In November 2000, the Judith P. Hoyer Blue Ribbon Commission on the Financing of Early Child Care and Education was initiated (Chapter 566, Acts of 2000). The Commission is to examine the costs and availability of funding for early child care and education. It will focus on total costs, develop a coherent funding structure, and review and identify public and private sources of funding. Methods for reducing costs to middle-income parents also will be identified.
The Commission made an interim report to the Governor on December 21, 2000.
